I'm trying to develop a website for my local charity sector as a proof of concept and probably to run initially while we find a permanent host. It is for service users, charity workers and any member of the public to use to find out what meaningful occupation activities are available.
We are dealing with three types of services, in my opinion:
one-off events, e.g. fun days;
regular events, e.g. basic IT course that runs every Thursday from April to October;
services that people can be referred to, e.g. return to work advice.
The problem we are trying to address is information going out of date very quickly - funding for projects runs out and directories of services (static versions are currently produced annually) are only valid for the couple of months following their publication. We want to create a website where project workers can list the details of their services and events and which requires them to make updates (and unpublishes them if they don't).
Here is an example of a website that works well for the charity sector in my area:
http://www.advicecentresforavon.org.uk/index.phpIt does not allow for events or expiring information, so is not analogous but shows the sort of simple, easy to understand thing I'm looking for.
My web host is dreamhost, who have the following features:

Thanks in advance for your time and experience. I've used a number of CMSs in the past including Drupal and Etomite, and have looked at Exponent, Mambo, Joomla and XOOPS in the past, but my knowledge is bound to be pretty out of date. Because of my experiences, I want to use mainly / only core plugins where possible, because if I ever decide to upgrade the core, I want it to still work!
