I basically need a starting point, for designing a website, that goes way farther than just your typical static website with html pages and a few assets.
what i am trying to get accomplished, is to design a website that will incorporate certain features that will accomplish my goal.
* logon user script
* creating a user profile
+ adding customizable objects to this profile, which might include:
+ bio description
+ photo uploads on each object
+ guest book for other users to comment on that object.
+ user created (for lack of better word) document, that resulted in the user adding info
in a certain type layout that when finished, resembled a pedigree chart for dogs.
+ once this object was created, would be able to be posted on a forum for viewing.
* forum (this i can at least handle, since there are tons of forum software to use for this.)
this isnt a complete list, but its close, my main concerns are the picture hosting, and profile features that would have to be addressed, i hope something close to this is already out there for free in the asp.net or php community. i just dont have a good starting block for any type of dynamic type site. this will be the first time ive built this type of site. anyone have any suggestions on community groups or something similar like how-to articles/dvd's, on building this sort of site? if i were to compare what im wanting to an already existing well known site, would be like youtube, but without the video...instead it would be pics, and each pic represented an object that belong to the users profile, just like youtube's videos all belong to the users channel. and each object would have decriptions and a place for comments/guest book from other users. then i'd just add a forum to this, and i'd be really close to my goal. any advice would be greaty greaty appreciated.
