The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Servers, Mod_Security, Firewall

Hi,

I am in Australia and am with Ausweb.com.au for cPanel Hosting. i am currently having some troubles with my website at the moment with regards to the hostesses firewall. I had previously had this issue a couple of months back and it has now come back to haunt me. Back in March my website was having the same issue as the one that is happening now. My Hosting Provider has send me over this info.

Your IP address was blocked by mod_security warnings in our application level firewall.

Please find below your details:

XXX.XXX.XX.XX # lfd: 5 (mod_security) login failures from XXX.XXX.XXX.XX - Sun Jul 27 03:02:49 2008

mod-security can be triggered by many things including but not restricted to:
1) a malicious attempt attack on the server
2) a scripting error in a site that may appears to be malicious attempt attack.
3) an issue with your web browser or one of its plugins.

Please contact your web developer or system administrator to help you rectify this problem.

Now that is what is happening the last solution is go to a web dev. i would only I am not a millionaire to be spending hundreds or thousands on a web dev. i am already paying nearly $500 AUD now p/yr. So as I was saying this is going back to March and Ausweb and i went thought the rigmarole oh trouble shooting and after 5 days I uninstalled Skype and they unblocked me and everything worked again, but this time when I wanted to install skype because I needed to use it, and I had the same issue I then uninstalled it but with no result as the last time. I dont know what is going on I haven't used any plug-ins with the Skype. I did ask them to unblock the ip after I uninstalled the Skype Program and got out for about 5 minutes then it stopped working AGAIN! I have a static ip and are using ESET Security Suite. I use Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera and they all do the same thing. I am running XP Home on my laptop and Vista Ultimate all 32-bit. PLEASE HELP. My website is down and I need to get it back up and running ASAP. Urgent Assistance Would Be Appreciated.

Thanks,

Evan
