The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

TFTP an ASDM image on to a PIX

Asked by iyakub in Cisco PIX Firewall

Tags: , , , ,

Hi guys,

I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out why this is'nt working. I upgraded my PIX about 8 months ago from 6.3 to 7.2 via TFTP - all good.
Now 8 month later - I thought it would be nice to have the ASDM device manager. So as before I put the image on the TFTP Root and attempted to TFTP via the good olf "copy tftp flash command". Only this time it does'nt want to work. My workstation which is also the TFTP server is connected to a switch and then to the firewall. There are no connection issues as I can send a ping back and forth successfully to my machine and the firewall interface which will recieve the image.

the ASDM image is asdm-603.bin which is fine for 7.2. I've also tried to reload the PIX and attempted from monitor mode - using address, server and file - this also fails.

Here is the error I'm getting:

FW1# copy tftp flash

Address or name of remote host []? 192.168.3.2

Source filename []? asdm-603.bin

Destination filename [asdm-603.bin]?

Accessing tftp://192.168.3.2/asdm-603.bin...
WARNING: TFTP download incomplete!

%Error reading tftp://192.168.3.2/asdm-603.bin (Unspecified Error)

Please help - I would like to keep all my configuration on the PIX intact.
