The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Script to Check if Registry Exists, if not then create keys.

Asked by Steven_Placencia in VB Script

Ok so I'm new to VB Script and trying to make head way. Ive written / copied / pasted and edited many scripts and get the ides of vb script, just dont have the knowledge to produce what Im looking for.

I created a Custom MS Outlook Profile named Outlook_Profile.PRF. I did this so when users move around to different computers the Outlook will automatically setup with the server name, user name, and contacts list (People move around a lot!). Ive found the registry keys on where to tell outlook to import this file, but I need the script to first check and see if outlook is already setup, and if it is then to quit as no interaction is needed. And of course, if its not then to apply the import command into the registry. The code I have works, but then problem with having this code run every time a user logs onto a computer is that their signature defaults back to being blank and other odd issues.

We have Office 2002 and 2003. as the script runs now, it deletes the First-Run keys (so outlook knows to import a profile), and then creates the Setup key (so if its the first time a user has been on the computer, the script can later create the import value), and then creates the import values for outlook. Like I said this works, but I need it to run only once, so the first time a user logs onto the computer. The script is run with AD and logon scripts command.
