The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Visual Basic 2005

I am very green at Visual Basic 2005. I do know how to manipulate basic objects like text boxes and buttons and I am familiar with running sql queries on a database and working with the results.

What I am trying to do is use the datagridview object. Every source I have used has showed great examples of this, that is if you tie it to a table in a database, but I do not want to do that. Here is what I want to do

1) Have a generic datagridview with my own columns  (I have already added this to a form)
2) Run a sql command which will pull data from random tables (I can do this)
3) Perform the math that I will need for some of the columns (I can also do this)
4) add this data to the appropriate columns to make view easier   (need help here, no clue how to do this)
5) create a new line, repeat until all data has been complete   (as in number 4, no clue how to do this)
6) write it to a previously non-existant excel file (no clue how to do this either).

Really the only reason I am using the datagridview is that is the best tool I can find to present the data in the best way possible. On average I will have anywhere between 150- 250 rows of data. Writing it to an excel file is the reason I am doing this in VB and not some other language I am more familiar with.  Any help would be appreciated.
