How do I manually start a screen saver using a shortcut?

I would like to be able to start my screen saver using a short cut on the desktop. Research on the internet suggested creating a short cut to the screen saver I wished to use by finding the *.scr file and then make a shortcut of that. I have done that, but when I click on the short cut file, the *.scr file opens in Notepad instead of starting the screen saver.
