The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

TCP-MSS ASA/UNIX

Asked by TTNSTC in SCO Unix, Unix Networking, Cisco PIX Firewall

Tags: , ,

I seen a resolution posted on Exchange experts for this problem but I wanted to ask a question.  After reading a few other posts on Cisco and since in my situation the web site I am having this problem with is in my control (a SCO Unix box) and since it is the only one I have an issue with can I not change the MTU and possibly MSS values on it instead of changing the ASA 8.03 config?  The box is located at one of several hospitals we have and we are just doing a public to internal nat to a https interface on that box.  I have several other various boxes I do the same with and have no issues with but this is the only SCO box in the picture&so far.  Here is the error I am getting:

Dropping TCP packet from outside:76.185.70.106/50329 to inside:65.66.106.141/443, reason: MSS exceeded, MSS 512, data 536

Also, if I do end up doing the work around on the ASA will it affect any other public to internal NAT translations since I will have to incorporate this into existing access-lists?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
