Login ID Showing Up as "w $a"

Asked by khanhvo7 in SCO Unix

Tags: ,

An application, which we will call aplication ABC, on SCO Openserver 6, when posting back the login ID shows up as "w $a".  We originally thought that it was the terminal emulator but we've tried a different and more current emulator but with the same results.  The users that are using the emulator uses SSH to get to the server internally since they are all hardware vpned into the network where the SCO server is located.  Could this be a VPN issue or something more deep rooted?

The application ABC queries the system for the login ID which it uses to keep track of who did what.  It would work correctly initially and then during heavier usage of the appication the problem would occur.  MP3 has been updated on the server but the problem persist.

Has anyone ran an application on UNIX that has exhibited similiar problems or any suggestions/ideas would greatly be appreciated.Start Free Trial
