Hi guys. Here's one that's been keeping me up late in freezing cold Scotland for a few nights now. I have a PC pre-loaded (OEM) with Windows XP. It has been laoded with SP3 some time ago, and no problem experienced. It has 4 user accounts, with all but 1 set as "administrator". A while ago, my son noticed that he was having trouble accessing the web using his account, but I've only just now managed to get round to investigate.
In every account except my own account, There is no access to IE7, My Documents, Control Panel, although all programs load & run perfectly. When I try to open My Computer or Control Panel in any of these accounts, I get a message along the ines of "Windows has experienced an error and has to close". When I look at the details of the error it lists shdocvw.dll.
When I try to open IE7 in any of these accounts it gives me the obligatory white screen and the same error as above but listing "sysframe" as a potential problem.
I have tried deleting and recreating accounts but the same thing happens. Things appear to be workibng OK in safe mode. The only other starnge thing is that although everyone's accounts appear normal in Documents and Settings, there seems to be another user account in C:\ Documents and Settings\ called "USER.PSHOUSE2", where "USER" is my son's name and PSHOUSE2 is the name of the computer. I have tried to delete this user, but get the message that it is a system file and cannot be renamed or deleted as it is required for windows to operate properly.
What am I missing? All I want is to get all of these accounts back so I can keep my account to myself!
Any help would be appreciated.
