The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Can I sync Contacts from a public folder with a Windows Mobile device?

Hello,

I have a user who is trying to sync our client contact lists with her mobile phone.  These contacts are stored in a public folder, and all the information I've found says it's impossible to sync public folder content with mobile devices.  I'm not an expert on Windows Mobile (I believe she's running 5, although it may be 6) OR public folders, by any stretch of the imagination.

I don't know how this was working (if anyone knows about a method like this, if it was supposed to, or not), but another user was helping her initially.  It seems when he favorited the public folders of his clients (and they appeared in his Other Contacts in Outlook) he was able to sync them with his phone.  She added her client lists to her public folder favorites, but for whatever reason, they did not show up under Other Contacts.  Today they're showing up under Other Contacts, but they're still not syncing with her phone.

Since the phones are syncing wirelessly (with the server, not the desktop), I wasn't sure that favorites in the user's Outlook would have anything to do with the sync.

I thought I might have come up with another solution, by copying the public folder to the user's Contacts (i.e. creating an offline version).  Since that was in the user's Contacts folder, I figured it would sync.  I created a new profile as a test to see if the copy of the public folder still showed in the user's contacts - it did, so I thought that meant it was associated with the user's information on the Exchange server (hence, when her phone synced with the server, it would pick up that contact list).  The copy of the public folder still didn't sync with her phone.

What I would like to know is, is there a way to get these client contact lists to sync with the mobile phones (without a third-party app to sync public folders)?  Please let me know if you need additional information for a proposed solution.Start Free Trial
