The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Windows XP, and Windows 2000 would not recognize network adaptor

Asked by wwrafter1 in Windows 3.x Setup, Windows Networking, Windows XP Operating System

I just purchased a IBM Think Centre S50 8183 AEU the unit has 1gb mem, 2.6 ghz celeron, 40gbhd, cdrom.

The unit came preloaded with Windows 2000 without disks.  When I tried to get the browser to work it only works offline.  When I tried to install the network it couldn't intstall.  I went to the system info and checked the hardware devices installed. None of the board devices show installed. the ethernet asked me to provide a driver. Since I didn't have the disks for the computer I was concerned that the network card might be defective or it wasn;t hooked up right.  I used a copy of puppyos dingo 4.0 and it worked and recognized the network card.  I then used a copy of ubunto 8.1 and it worked ok.

I then changed the os to windows xp I have the disk.                                                                                                                                                                 Anyway after installing windows xp same results.

I then went ot Lenovo and downloaded the driver for the network card and installed it.  When I tried to install the hardware still no luck with the network card.

Before I put in anoter network card that I know works and has a driver I thought I would ask for suggestions here.  Thank you for your help. Start Free Trial
