The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Non-admin users cannot log onto new term server - GPO issue?

Asked by mojopojo in Remote Desktop/Terminal Services, Windows 2003 Server, Microsoft Windows Operating Systems

Tags: , , ,

We have just put up a Term Server (Windows 2003) to host some time/billing aplications for remote users across the country.

The domain is all Windows Servcer 2003 running in native-mode.

The new Term Server was put in it's own OU in AD and the OU linked to a GPO defined basicly acording to the following MSKB:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278295

The Terminal Services Licenseing Server is the DC and there ate 20 user class Term Server CALs installed there. The Term Server apears to recognize the DC as the Term Services Licsensing Server.

THE ISSUE: After moving the Term Server into OU locked down with the GPO, no user who is not part of the administrators group is allowed to log onto it. The admins can log on no problem and the GPO is applied to the session. But users who are part of the "Remote Desktop Users" group are denied access with the folloing warning: **Pictured Below**

I have never had this issue with any othwer Term Server, and I have 4 in production. The only difference is that the other's have the Term liscensing server local rather than on the DC. Is this the problem? If so, I know moving the liscensing requires calling MS and going through a lot of rigamoral.

Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
-MP
