This has me stumped... I have a user that failed to change their passwords before it expired. It had been a while since she came into the office s oteh computer was off the entire time and upon turning it on and logging in, she was told that it needed to be changed. she did and it said it changed, but upon trying to login with the new password, she was told that it can't log in and to please check the username, password, and domain (forget exact wording of error message). If they login with the expired password, it tells them to change it again and if they change it using the "newly" changed password and a different password it works. If she tries changing it using the expired password, it won't work, only with the current password that is set on the domain. Any other domain user or local user can log in, it's just this specific user.
I've tried changing the password on the domain, but it doesn't seem to matter. I checked the IP settings and the DNS and WINS seem to be set properly and look to be working correctly, especially as multiple other users can log in just fine. It was still using Service Pack 2, so I figured I might install Service Pack 3 and see if that might kinda reset the cached domain credentials. It looks to have done that, however, now it won't log that user in regardless of the password I use (i.e. the expired password isn't even recognized either), but others can still log in just fine!
I'm still using NT 4, but I think I can make a good case to upgrade now that we're getting these wonky issues - though I might turn off the password expiration policy! Any advice is appreciated!
