The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Microsoft, Windows Server 2008 (64 bit) Standard, 2008 SP1, Installed on Dell Poweredge T105 Server, Dell, Poweredge Server, T105

Can anyone help me with this one please - I'm banging my head against the table?
I have internet access on the Server. The client PC's authenticate with the Server and can share resources, but can NOT access the internet.

Clients can NOT ping the router (gateway).

CONFIGURATION:
Poweredge T105 Server - Windows Server 2008 Standard (x64bit)

I have two NIC's configured :-
1 x External (Internet facing) - 'North'
1x Internal (LAN facing) - 'South'

'North' (Internet)
192.168.1.253
255.255.255.0
192.163.1.254 (gateway - router)
127.0.0.1 (DNS ) - I set this to the same as the gateway IP but Windows changed it!)

 'South' (LAN)
192.168.16.1
255.255.255.0
                   (no gateway set)
127.0.0.1  (DNS) - ditto above

I have installed RRAS (but may not have it configured properly (novice here) - can not find 'IP Routing' option in menu tree), but configured for LAN routing and enabled NAT etc... I have NPS installed also and have left it on default config (novice here again).
DHCP is being handled just fine by LAN NIC.
DNS is handled by ISP (Server DNS not manually configured)
Internet NIC functioning just great and Server has all it needs to access the web with no problems.
Installation of Server 2008 OS went very well. The only glitch I had was IPv6 got moaned about when the two NIC's were configured - could this be the clue? I can not remember the exact error message - but I believe it related to a potential conflict between the two NIC configs. My error logs indicate an IPv6 parameter is incorrect (I will have to dig out the exact info again if you think it is necessary - I didn't though make any config changes to IPv6 - it's all set on default install).

This seems incredibly difficult to setup for such a fundamental aspect of the network configuration.
