Hi,
I am trying to create a package for software updates to be pushed out to a network of about 300 pcs. The SMS server is working fine and seems all configured correctly because when I go to Distribute Software Updates and go through the options to create packages and then download the required patches to a folder on the server it works fine.
However, i want to be able to perform the same function by using the admin console from a client pc and not do it from the server. When i perform the same operation on the client pc i get to the point where i can select the updates I want to download and specify the folder on the server to save them to and then get the error "Auto download of software updates failed. please check your browser settings or do a manual download" If i copy and paste the binary path for the update into my browser it downloads fine.
I am using an account with full domain admin privileges and am on XP sp3(this is the same account used for logging onto the server). Another pc on the network is able to download the updates without a problem, it is the same spec and the browser options are set up the same way.
Is there something that needs installed on the client pc to be able to carry out this operation?
