How to add custom data to SMS database

I'd like to add some custom info to the SMS database and I'm not sure how. I'd like to add a column for our "asset tag". It's just a 4 digit number/sticker that we place on each PC for our inventory purposes. Then I'd like to be able to extract this info in a report. I've done some searching but found nothing so far.
