need info for first server migration

hello the company i work for just got a new server in, its running 2003 R2, we currently have an old server that is handling everything and we want to migrate everything over to the new server. the old server is also running win 2003 but not R2.

after connecting the server up doing all the updates, im finding a problem it seems that my current DC cant ping this new server that i have connected, now i havent made the new server a  DC yet and i am able to ping my old server from the new one but not the other way around. so thats the first issue

next i know i have to run adprep /forestpre  on the new server and adprep /domainprep on the old server before i make the new server a DC but what i want to know is if im having the issue with not being able to ping the new server from the old one should i reslove that first or will this fix the issue.

i know im asking a lot here but i kind of got thrown into the server admin position  and i need a bit of help. thanksStart Free Trial
