PTR on Linux mail server on T1 line from Bellsouth (AT&T now)

Asked by ITMiami in Domain Name Service (DNS), Linux Setup, Slax / Slackware Linux

I have a mail server under T1 line from Bellsouth now the "new AT&T" the server has been working for a couple of years but now we are starting to get bounce backs due to no reverse dns being in place... My questions is:

Do I need to ask AT&T to setup the PTR record or Reverse DNS or they do not have anything to do with that, and I should do it under my mail server... I know know much about how reverse DNS works. I know how to set up on linux, but does the provider AT&T also has to do something on their side for it to work?Start Free Trial
