The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Hi,

Due to a local business going under, I have been pushed to move my clients to a dedicated server at theplanet.com.  I am fairly knowledgeable on the networking side of things, but I have a question.

I want to use my domain name as the nameservers for my two servers (one running cPanel under Red Hat, one running Plesk under Server 2003).  I want to use:
ns1.domain.com -> Plesk
ns2.domain.com -> Plesk
dns1.domain.com -> cPanel
dns2.domain.com -> cPanel

I have gone to my domain registrar (Misk), and set up custom nameservers pointing ns1 and ns2 to two different IPs on the plesk server, and dns1 and dns2 pointing at two different IPs on cPanel.  I know I should have the nameservers on at least different servers, and plan to do so, but for now time is a big issue.

What I need to know is if I am on the right track setting up the custom nameservers first of all.  Second, I am not sure how to set plesk to act as a nameserver.  Do I just add domain.com to plesk, if so, what additional configurations are needed?

I'll be in the same boat with cPanel, but this is a little outside of my area of expertise.

I know that I will be doing a lot of reading; but I need some quick help getting this set up - if I am not ready and have the servers tested, etc by Monday, I could lose a huge amount of business that I will be receiving from the closing company.

I look forward to any advice!

Andrew
