The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Microsoft, Server 2003

Hi,
I have a client with a somewhat small network, 11 computers not including their 2 Domain controllers. DNS is set up on one of the DC's, and one of them runs a large SQL database, it is not used by my client much anymore, they just keep it for reference. They are in a remote location so their internet is provided by a local group using private IP addresses. All the computers have static ip's. They all have a mapped drive letter to the server, they call it  "L" Drive.
Now here is the problem. One computer will loose connection to the mapped drive as many as five times a day, and it may take 2 to 3 reboots to restore the mapping, The error she get is "The local device name is already in use" . I am not at the location so I can't give you more of the message. This computer has been rebuilt, replaced, all hardware changed, new network cable. The computer is running XP Pro, when I replaced the computer I did an ASR backup and restore (because of all the software they run). I have also in the past done a complete wipe and install, Still the same problem. All the clients in the network will occasionally lose their connection but not to the extent of the problem computer.  I just remembered I do have another computer that just was upgraded from Windows 2000 to XP Pro, it is now doing the same thing. Then one last problem, all the users tell me their computers seem to slow down around 4pm. As far as I can see there is nothing running anywhere that will cause the slowdown.
Thanks
