I have to move Exchange 2003 server (which is running on completely independent domain than our main AD domain) to another domain. Basically from domain A to domain B.
I need to know if anyone have experience of this or completed this in the past with any known issues or complications I have questions about :
1. What method was used to migrate mailboxes? I mean any tool or can this be done through Exmerge ?
2. How to migrate atleast 600 mailboxes ? can this be done over the weekend or I am thinking of running both servers simultaneously and move department by department on weekley basis but then how people will send or receive e-mails between two domains ? Any connector neeeds to be created or any other ideas ?
3. What about public folders and its permissioning ? Also, the contacts are shared among uers and the permisiong of shared contacts etc etc ?
Or anything else you can think of which I need to consider ?
There are atleast 600 users or mailboxes as this is a HE college and at present when we create a new user on our system we need to create an account on main AD (staff domain) then separetly on Exchange server (staffmail domain) with different password but the naming convention is the same on both domains / AD for example Joe Bloggs is created as Jbloggs in staff AD as well as in Exchange staffmail AD
