The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Network guru,

I've got a "slight" issue with my computers network connection :-/
Please see the attached .pdf with an overview of my LAN.

The problem occured the other day after booting my PC, when I opened up IE 7 or Firefox it took about 5 seconds to download the google.com logo which usually takes less than a second. Anyways, all the network traffic to and from my computer is unusually slow - all except for ping command via CMD. Internet HTTP-, BitTorrent-, FTP-traffic etc gives me at most 20kb/s and I'm sitting on a 100 Mbit/s connection :-/
The other computers on my LAN does not have any issues.

I've tried the following:
  Replaced the ethernet cable
Different ports on the router (directly connected)
Different ports on the switch (directly connected)
  Reboot ofcourse
  clearing ARP-, NBTSTAT -and DNS-cache
Resetting the router to default settings

I'm sure the problem is on my computer but I have no clue what to look for :-/
not sure but could ICS have anything to do with this? I've stopped the "sharedaccess" service without any luck.

Btw, under "Network Connections" in Windows XP somethimes an "Internet Connection"-connection appears, is this ICS? Never used it...

edit: pinging a LAN computer with 1500 byte packages results in "Request timed out".
cmd > ping -l 1500 192.168.1.101
100% loss
the other computers have no problems with this command, except when pinging my PC.
NO FIREWALLS ENABLED.

Please let me know if you need any information not sure what's relevant.

Thanks!!
