Hi,
Due to severe lack of space on the C drive we need to move the transaction logs onto the D drive.
I never originally prepared the server so do not know how the underlying disks were arranged.
The originial people who prepared the server gave a reason as to why the log file should not be written to the D drive but I cannot remember this reason. I think it was because he said two things should not be both stored on the same drive.
The only thing I can think of is that currently the "transaction logs" and the "sytem path" location (under first storage group properties) are both currently set on D drive.
Where are the "Exchange Database" and the "Exchange streaming database" are both on the D drive.
1)Is there good reason not to have these two on the same drive or is there some other reason why it might be bad to move the log files to the D drive.
2) If I do change the log files to the D drive, do I need to reboot for it to take effect and will all the current log files be copied over?
3) Is there likley to be any performace difference having the log files on the D drve (note there are only C and D drives on this server which has 5 SCSI drives but I have no idea how they have been setup for RAID)
Thanks in advance.
