The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

BCM to CRM 4.0 - how do I migrate the "old" data

Asked by Plastikboot in Microsoft Dynamics, MS SQL Server, CRM Software

Tags: , ,

Hi Gurus,

I installed a new CRM 4.0 Server and that part went really fine (when I got all the red exclamation marks from CRM-Installation away :))
Then I wanted to import the "old" BCM data in the new server. I started an export - I was happy to find a full export with history in BCM - I got a nice BCM file as result of the export.
The real problems started when I tried to reimport the BCM data in CRM 4.0 with the Data Migration Wizard:
1.) The wizard does not accept BCM files where all the infos are in.
2.) I lose the connection between account and contact when I use the csv files I can export from BCM

So I used the BCM file and made an .xml out of it (just renaming) - I imported the XML in MS Access to get the structure of the old data. Then I used the GUIDs from the XML and brought them back in the csv exported files from BCM (because in the XML file all emailadress were in a different table without GUIDs)
Finally I had a 2 nice files - one for accounts and one for contact in csv format. The import worked and I got almost all data in.

But how do I get the history and everything else in??? Emails, photos and all links to files are missing. How can MS make a big brother of BCM and forget the tools to let the little brother grow????

I hope someone can give me a solution!

Thanks in advance
