The Solution Rating System

What are the voltages in a standard ATX style power supply used for?

Someone told me that 12v is not limited to "... fans and drive motors."   It's also the primary voltage fed to the CPU regulators.  This is the first I've heard of this.  I looked for references on this and was unable to find any that indicated the 12v is used for CPU regulators.  I did find that they were used for fans, drive motors, 1394 bus.  Can someone clarify what the standard voltages of an ATX style power supply are used for?
