The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. How do I play .wmv files on iMac OS X

A friend asked for some help and I don't know the first thing about Apples and Macs.
"is there anyone out there who knows why my QuickTime program won't play .wmv files even tho it seems to have the .wmv package when I open it up?"

He has been running a Windows ME (don't say it) box for years and just got a brand new iMac.
He is burning CD's to copy all of his old data, so any thoughts on some way to make an electronic connection would be great.

Bottom line - how can he play .wmv files? -- and the data transfer piece would be gravy.
