Shorter login credentials in a Windows domain

Hi Expets,

does anyone know if there is an alternative to login a MAC to a Windows domain other then DOMAINNAME\USERNAME ?

I have a client in Spain and they have really long username and unfortunaltely the domainname is over 14 characters as well.

They have purchased 5 MAC (they wish to migrate to MAC with 150 users next years) as test and this is the problem they face.

Any idea to use email address or have the domain set to default like windows does ?
