The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

iPhone 3G won't restart. Locked on startup "apple" screen.

Asked by JimR123b in iPhone

I was using my iPhone 3G, and while using the ApStore on it, it stopped responding to my taps and button presses. The "hourglass" was still spinning, saying "Loading".

I couldn't get it back to the home screen, so I turned it off by holding down the sleep button until it went off.

I then held down the sleep button to turn it back on, but all it does is show the Apple logo, and never comes up with the home screen. I've left it on the Apple logo for about 2 hours, and it still hasn't come up.

The only thing that I've managed to do (and this is hopefully just because I don't know what else to do), is hold the home and sleep button for a few seconds, and that turns it off.

If I plug the charge cable in, while the phone is off, the apple logo comes up again, but still with the same results, it seems. The charge cable is connected to a computer which does NOT have iTunes installed.

I didn't want to plug my phone into my usual computer (which I sync with via iTunes) until I was sure it was the right thing to do.

What can I do to bring my iPhone back to life?!?
